Delivered in partnership with the Eutelsat Konnect platform, the new satellite service offers unlimited high-speed internet to households and businesses.
Sonatel Orange has unveiled Senegals first satellite internet offering, a move that marks a major milestone in the countrys ongoing digital transformation. Launched in partnership with Eutelsat/Konnect, the new service delivers unlimited high-speed internet to both households and businesses nationwide, significantly expanding access to reliable connectivity.
By integrating satellite technology with its existing fibre, 4G and 5G networks, Orange now claims coverage of 99% of Senegals territory, extending internet access to remote and rural areas that have traditionally been underserved. The satellite service is already available and is being installed by local technical teams, offering a flexible and efficient response to complex connectivity challenges while reinforcing Senegals technological sovereignty through the use of local expertise and infrastructure.
The launch aligns with the countrys Horizon 2050 development plan, under which Orange has committed to rolling out an additional 1m fibre optic connections between 2026 and 2028. This expansion will bring the total number of optical sockets installed nationwide to nearly 2m by the end of 2028. Initial fibre deployments were completed in December 2025 in several strategic and often isolated communities, including Moudery, Sare Bidji, Ndiedieng, Ogo and Koungheul, with further rollouts planned in the coming weeks.
Oranges broader strategy focuses on inclusive connectivity, ensuring that high-speed internet reaches all regions rather than remaining concentrated in urban centres. The company is also strengthening its role as a partner in the digitalisation of public services, supporting education and healthcare institutions, enabling secure government connectivity, and facilitating citizen access to essential digital services.
Through its combined investments in satellite, fibre and mobile infrastructure, Sonatel Orange is reinforcing its position as a cornerstone of Senegals digital development, supporting long-term economic growth and social transformation across the country.
