It will promote and facilitate cross-border co-productions.
Saudi Film Commission has officially become a member of the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet), a non-profit organisation founded in 2004. AFCNet represents more than 50 members from 19 countries and regions across Asia, including film commissions, production offices and related organisations. This move aims to strengthen international collaborations and foster the exchange of expertise and knowledge within the film industry.
Joining AFCNet marks a significant milestone in the Saudi Film Commission’s mission to advance the Kingdom’s film industry. By supporting local and regional film projects and encouraging co-productions, the commission aims to contribute to the growth of the global cinematic community while promoting cultural exchange.
The commission is dedicated to creating opportunities for filmmakers by providing innovative platforms to showcase their work, facilitating distribution and positioning Saudi Arabia as a premier filming destination. Through competitive incentive programmes and initiatives, the commission seeks to accelerate the production of high-quality films and establish Saudi Arabia as a hub for creative excellence.
This membership complements the commission’s recent affiliation with the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), announced in June 2024. Together, these efforts aim to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global presence in the film industry and facilitate collaboration between local talents, national production companies and international partners.
