Saudi Film Commission is set to participate in the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, taking place from February 13 to 23, 2025, according to a report by Saudi Press Agency.
The Berlinale is known for its Golden Bear Awards and diverse lineup of feature films, documentaries and experimental cinema. The event serves as a vital platform for discovering new talent and fostering international collaboration in the film industry.
This year, the Saudi Film Commission will host a dedicated pavilion in partnership with key industry stakeholders. The pavilion will spotlight Saudi Arabia’s expanding role in global cinema and its strategic efforts to position the Kingdom as a prime destination for filmmakers. The initiative aims to promote cultural exchange, nurture local talent and enhance the skills of emerging Saudi filmmakers.
A delegation from the Commission, accompanied by Saudi filmmakers, will engage in meetings with leading industry professionals and decision-makers to explore new opportunities for collaboration. One of the key highlights of the Commission’s participation is a roundtable discussion titled “Will 2025 Be the Year of Independent Films at the Global Box Office?” The session will bring together film industry leaders to discuss trends, challenges and opportunities shaping the future of independent cinema, with a focus on fostering innovation and sustainable growth.
