The Manga Production will document historical figures and important events in Saudi history.
Manga Production Company, an affiliate of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Foundation (Misk), has partnered with the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) to illustrate the history of Saudi Arabia through comics and animation, according to Saudi Press Agency.
Manga Productions focusses on producing animations and developing video games with content targetting different local and international groups of society.
The project aims to document historical figures and important events in the history of the Kingdom, from the first Saudi state in 1744 to modern history.
Japanese companies will also reportedly be involved in the production, which is scheduled to start within weeks. Darah’s role will be to supervise and review the historical facts of the project.
Commenting on the partnership, the CEO of Manga Production Issam Bukhari said: “The company will work on this project under the supervision of Saudi cadres. The contracts will include providing training opportunities for the talented Saudi young men and women from the Kingdom, in addition to providing local training courses in the field of comics and animation. This will contribute to transferring the know-how from international experts and localizing this industry and strengthening the knowledge economy based on creativity and innovation.”
