Shams Studios will open with five premium soundstages, totalling 9,600 sqm of indoor space.
Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Supreme Council Member, has approved the establishment of a large unified government media hub that will consolidate several key media entities under one integrated complex. The initiative brings together the Sharjah Media Council, the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, and Sharjah Media City “Shams,” which will serve as the headquarters for the new development.
At the heart of the project is the creation of one of the region’s largest government media complexes, featuring five state-of-the-art studios ranging from 1,500 to 3,400 sqm. These facilities will cater to film, television, drama and digital content production, offering specialised post-production suites equipped with advanced editing tools, visual effects units and sound design capabilities. The hub is designed to support television and cinematic projects to international standards, strengthening Sharjah’s growing media ecosystem.
The development also includes a new building for the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, featuring modern technical infrastructure to enhance broadcasting operations. The first phase will comprise the main administrative building, a dedicated news building, and a facility for Sharjah Sports Channel.
Additionally, the project introduces the “Shams Creative Oasis,” an advanced centre for cultural, artistic, and educational activities. The oasis will include a modern theatre with a 700-seat capacity, as well as spaces for community events, artistic performances, and training programmes aimed at fostering local talent and expanding creative opportunities across the emirate.
Rashid Abdulla Al Obad, Director General of Sharjah Media City (Shams), said: “Shams Studios aims to attract major productions seeking large-scale production, availability and year-round filming conditions. Shams Studios marks a significant advancement in Sharjah’s vision to become a global hub for film and content creation. With 9,600 sq m of purpose-built stages and a vibrant creative ecosystem, we are prepared to welcome international productions and support the next generation of storytellers in the region.”
