Filmmakers interested in screening their films during the next edition of SFP are invited to submit their pitch by April 23, 2023.
Sharjah Art Foundation has invited local and international filmmakers to apply for the sixth edition of the Sharjah Film Platform (SFP) Short Film Production Grant.
The Short Film Production Grant is open to all independent filmmakers without restrictions of age, region or genre. For the purpose of this grant, a short film is defined as a work with a total runtime of 50 minutes or less, including the credits.
This grant is offered in conjunction with SFP, the Foundation’s annual festival of independent cinema and moving images. It supports short films that push the boundaries of contemporary filmmaking.
Grant recipients are expected to premiere their completed films at the sixth edition of SFP.
Providing a critical platform for filmmakers, producers, critics and students, Sharjah Film Platform was launched by Sharjah Art Foundation in 2018 as a resource to support filmmaking in the UAE and the surrounding region.
The recipients will share a monetary amount of $30,000, and the number of awardees will be determined on an as-needed basis.
The deadline to submit the application is 11:59 pm UAE time (GMT +4) on April 23, 2023.
Applicants are required to submit a recorded three-minute pitch, through which they will be assessed on the overall vision for their film with respect to genre, theme, structure and plot; the originality of their script; and their creative and technical skills.
