Children should have a background in acting, direction, production, scriptwriting or any other aspect of filmmaking.
The Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFF), organised by FUNN, the organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting media arts learning among children and youth, has announced the selection process for junior jurors for its eighth edition set to be held in October.
Children and youth between the ages of 12 – 20 are eligible to apply and fill in their applications by April 15, 2021. They should have a background in acting, direction, production, scriptwriting or any other aspect of filmmaking.
Additionally, the SIFF junior jurors programme is looking for candidates with critical thinking capabilities, public speaking skills, confidence and an outgoing personality.
On the completion of preliminary selections, video call interviews will be conducted to review chosen applicants before June 17. The final junior jury of SIFF 2021 will comprise 40 – 50 members.
The junior jury will undergo skills training at a workshop titled Junior Jurors’ Training, which will be spread over several days between July and October. Four workshops will be held as part of the programme.
The workshops will include an introduction to the film festival, showcase the contributions and achievements of previous junior jurors, and highlight the jurors’ role including their responsibilities during the opening ceremony. The sessions will instruct jurors on how to critique films, and will align with FUNN’s creative approach to stimulate children and young adults to develop their critical thinking and nurture their personal strengths.
