In 2022, Sowt acquired Finyal Studios, a podcast studio in Dubai that specialises in fictional content.
Jordanian podcast and audio-content producer Sowt Media has made a strategic move by acquiring Dubai-based Rising Giants Network (RGN), signalling a significant advancement in Sowt’s mission to enhance Arabic audio content while cementing its position as an industry leader.
This acquisition underscores Sowt’s dedication to nurturing diverse and captivating Arabic and English audio content. Through this collaboration, Sowt aims to broaden its audience reach and continue delivering top-tier podcasts that resonate with listeners across the Arabic-speaking world.
Rising Giants Network, renowned for its innovative podcasting approach, brings a wealth of talent and premium content to the Sowt Media fold. Their commitment to creating compelling content seamlessly aligns with Sowt’s vision of enriching the audio landscape with authentic and thought-provoking narratives.
Speaking about the acquisition, Ramsey Tesdell, CEO of Sowt Media, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Rising Giants Network to the Sowt Media family. This acquisition represents a significant milestone in our journey to redefine Arabic audio content. Together, we will continue to push boundaries, inspire audiences, and amplify diverse voices throughout the region.”
Sowt anticipates integrating talent from RGN into its platform. Several of RGN’s popular shows, including Lahza ma Mais hosted by content producer Mais Mohammad and Kursi al Athnein hosted by Emirati Abdulla Al Nuaimi, will resume publication. Additionally, Kursi al Ethnein’s video version was recently picked up by Dubai TV for broadcast. More shows from RGN will also resume publication soon.
“We’re very excited about RGN joining the Sowt family. We have seen how passionate and inspiring the team has been with all the cutting-edge content that they’ve produced. RGN will feel right at home,” added Basel Anabtawi, CEO and co-founder of RGN. Anabtawi will join Sowt’s board of directors.
This marks Sowt’s second acquisition, following its acquisition of Finyal Studios, a Dubai-based podcast studio focusing on fiction content, in 2022.
The recent acquisition received support from the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF). However, the financial terms of the acquisition were not publicly disclosed.
