The upgrade focused on improving the boardroom's design and technology, enabling seamless virtual communication and enhancing meetings for both in-person and hybrid attendees.
Stage Audio Works (SAW) Namibia has completed the installation of a cutting-edge audiovisual (AV) system in the Executive Boardroom at the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Centre in Windhoek. The project, aimed at modernising the boardroom’s aesthetic and technological infrastructure, enhances virtual communication and offers a seamless experience for both in-person and hybrid meetings.
Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group, established in 1919, is one of Namibia’s largest private companies, with operations spanning sectors such as food and beverages, fishing, retail, property development, hospitality and leisure.
Emce Smit, Technical Manager at Stage Audio Works Namibia, said: “We were approached by the client directly, as we have a long-standing relationship built upon past projects. O&L needed the boardroom to accommodate 17-25 seats and required technology that would be compatible with both Microsoft Teams and Zoom conferencing platforms.”
The boardroom upgrade includes several key features: a scheduling panel, ceiling-mounted microphones, multiple tracking cameras, dual-screen displays, power outlets under the table, a cable-free setup and interactive whiteboard technology.
SAW Namibia selected a portfolio of advanced AV equipment from top brands to fulfill these requirements. The installation features two 85-inch UHD displays for dual-screen sharing, an AV-over-IP system for seamless signal management, and a beamforming ceiling microphone with in-ceiling speakers for clear audio. A specialised content camera captures whiteboard discussions for better collaboration, while a participant tracking camera and on-desk touch panel ensure user-friendly control of the system. Outside the boardroom, a touchscreen panel displays room schedules, improving visibility for the O&L team. Additionally, all equipment powers down automatically when the room is vacated, resulting in energy savings and prolonged equipment life.
Emce Smit added: “Our ongoing partnership with O&L is important to us. Ensuring their satisfaction with every project is our top priority. This project was no different; we were focused on delivering a state-of-the-art solution to meet their evolving needs.”
The new setup has transformed the boardroom into a clutter-free environment, with all the technology integrated seamlessly and in keeping with the modern interior design. The advanced video conferencing capabilities ensure interactive participation from all attendees, whether they are present in the room or joining remotely.
“We’re confident that the videoconferencing equipment installed will ensure a more equitable meeting experience for all,” concluded Smit. “We look forward to working with O&L again in the future.”
