The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) will begin to use Octopus6, changing its Ankara-based newsroom computer system. Turkish partner, Avkom, will be working with Octopus Newsroom with the aim to have the project completed by the end of November 2012.
Octopus Newsroom has worked with three other companies in Turkey over the past two years, and this latest deal with TRT is set to be the largest project to date. It involves 180 users running on Windows platforms to support the Turkish national broadcasters multiple TV channels and newsrooms.
One of the key endeavours will be to simplify TRTs news workflow and, as part of this, system integration makes wide use of the MOS protocol for communication between the Octopus6 NRCS and media servers. This will include iSoft playout, Vizrt graphics and Autocue teleprompters. Octopus Newsroom is also advising TRT on the efficient continued use of existing technologies with the new NRCS.
Petr Stokuc, CEO of Octopus Newsroom, said: We have been working with our partners, Avkom, to grow our business in Turkey. We have already been successful, but this is our fourth and biggest project yet in the country. Customer service and attention to detail were important factors in getting this business and a lot of that was due to Avkoms work.
