The series stars İlsu Demirci as Mercan, a young woman trapped between fate and survival, alongside Ateş, played by Emin Günenç.
Turkish drama Arafta has become a breakout success for GoQuest Media and Rains Pictures, surpassing 1m YouTube subscribers in just 43 days and drawing strong interest from international buyers seeking distribution rights.
The series debuted as a YouTube-first release in November 2025, marking a strategic shift in how Turkish dramas are launched and marketed globally. Its rapid digital growth has already translated into licensing agreements across multiple territories, including Turkey, Israel, Romania, India, Indonesia and Latvia, even as production remains ongoing. In its home market, Arafta also began broadcasting on Kanal 7 in December 2025.
Audience response has been striking, with total views exceeding 200m and the opening episode alone generating more than 18m views. The on-screen chemistry between lead actors Emin Günenç and İlsu Demirci has fuelled strong engagement on social media, inspiring fan-made content and reaction videos that continue to keep the series highly visible online. The show’s YouTube presence is managed by Turning Red Media.
GoQuest Media Managing Director Vivek Lath said: “With Arafta, GoQuest Media builds on the success of Kuma’s digital-plus-licensing model. Episode 1’s strong start, crossing the 18m views mark, and early international deals affirm the demand for premium Turkish content and signal our next phase of creative ambition beyond borders.”
The project brings together GoQuest Media with Rains Pictures, a production company known for titles such as Rüzgarlı Tepe (Winds of Love) and Kan Çiçekleri (Vendetta), reinforcing the strength of the collaboration behind the series.
Arafta centres on Mercan, played by İlsu Demirci, a woman navigating the tension between survival and sacrifice, and Ateş, portrayed by Emin Günenç, a wealthy man burdened by unresolved secrets. The narrative explores the fragile boundary between love and revenge through intertwined personal struggles.
Sevda Kaygısız of Rains Pictures commented: “From the outset, Arafta has been positioned as a standout project through its compelling story, strong cast performances, and high-pace production model. The remarkable level of engagement achieved on YouTube in such a short period of time stands as a clear testament to the deep emotional connection audiences have formed with the series; as Rains Pictures, we see this success as going beyond digital metrics, reflecting strong confidence in Arafta’s long-term vision and sustainability, and we believe that the creative partnership established with GoQuest Media marks the beginning of a new chapter in the global journey of Turkish drama.”
