In accordance with the agreement, WAM will support the Federation's activities aimed at advancing sports and enhancing Abu Dhabi's reputation as a premier international host city.
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Emirates News Agency have inked deal to enhance media coverage of the organisation’s initiatives on a range of traditional and modern platforms both inside and outside the UAE and in various languages.
The Federation aims to contribute to solidifying Abu Dhabi’s position as the ‘Jiu-Jitsu Capital’ of the world by leveraging WAM’s assets, including its international relations and expertise, and the numerous agreements it has with various entities throughout the world.
The partnership coincides with the extensive expansion WAM is currently undertaking by broadening its language base and distribution platforms, offering its services both domestically and overseas. Given the agency’s expansive reach worldwide, the UAE champions’ accomplishments will reach a wider segment of audiences globally.
The signing ceremony was attended by Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, Chairman of UAEJJF and the Jiu Jitsu Asian Federation, First Vice President of the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation, and Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM.
Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAE and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations, and Abdullah Abdul Karim, Acting Executive Director for News Content at WAM, signed the agreement.
As per the agreement, WAM will support the Federation’s various activities that are aimed at advancing the sport and enhancing Abu Dhabi’s status as the premier host for major international jiu-jitsu events, a status demonstrated by the participation of 5,000 athletes from over 100 countries in the 14th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which is running until November 19 under the patronage of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Al Hashemi lauded the role that sponsors and partners play in shaping the UAE’s success stories in the sport. “The UAEJJF’s sponsors and partners are major contributors to the successes and victories achieved by our athletes at various forums. Their ongoing support will inspire our athletes to achieve greater success in the future,” he said.
For his part, Al Rayssi thanked Al Hashemi and the UAEJJF Board of Directors for their confidence of WAM’s capabilities.
“We are pleased to work with the UAEJJF to spread the word about the productive efforts they make both at home and abroad. WAM will spare no effort to support the Federation’s endeavours and help our champions in making even greater achievements,” he added.
Fahad Ali Al Shamsi stated: “The cooperation with WAM is proof that our partners are part of the major achievements of the Federation in developing champions, discovering and honing talents, and reaping successes. The ongoing support from WAM will greatly enhance our efforts and guarantee future success.”
Abdullah Abdul Karim, on the other hand, referred to the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation as a ‘Federation of Achievements’, noting that it has made major strides in popularising and developing jiu-jitsu in a remarkably short amount of time, through professionally organising competitions and supporting a team that continues to bag gold, silver and bronze medals in regional and international championships.
“This is precisely why WAM decided to put all its resources to support the Federation’s efforts to promote its achievements throughout the world through its news content and all its platforms, which cover a variety of languages,” he concluded.
