Viewership of YouTube on CTV grew in May 2024, reaching more than 2.5 million people in the UAE, more than 12 million people in Saudi Arabia, and more than 600,000 people in Qatar.
A survey conducted by Kantar in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar has revealed a significant viewer shift towards YouTube on Connected TV (CTV).
The survey found that YouTube had become a central entertainment and information hub across the MENA for viewers aged 18+ years. Viewership of YouTube on CTV grew in May 2024, reaching more than 2.5 million people in the UAE, more than 12 million people in Saudi Arabia, and more than 600,000 people in Qatar. The findings of the report were unveiled at YouTube’s flagship advertiser event, Brandcast.
When asked which single platform they would choose if limited to only one for an entire year, viewers in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE overwhelmingly chose YouTube. This preference was consistent across all age groups, including Gen Z. Viewers also reported a deeper connection with YouTube creators compared to creators from other platforms. In Saudi Arabia, 85% of viewers reported feeling a strong connection with YouTube creators, exceeding other platforms (78%). Over 60% of viewers in the UAE said they enjoy watching YouTube with family and friends, emphasising YouTube’s ability to bring people together.
