ARRI has introduced Trinity Live—an upgrade option for Trinity Gen.1, the initial generation of ARRI’s flagship body-mounted camera stabiliser system. Unveiled at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, Trinity Live is designed to optimise the Trinity system for live productions, enhancing its functionality within the ARRI Multicam System and third-party broadcast camera applications.
The Trinity Live upgrade encompasses new hardware, wiring, and connectivity, offering broadcasters advanced features to seamlessly integrate stabilised ARRI cameras into live, multi-camera environments. This latest addition complements ARRI’s Camera Control Panel CCP Live and Tally System Gen.2, providing a comprehensive solution for expanding the broadcast capabilities of existing ARRI cameras and camera stabiliser systems.
One standout feature of Trinity Live is its wireless video link positioning. Unlike conventional setups where the wireless video link is attached to the camera, Trinity Live allows for the attachment of the wireless video link at the bottom of the system. This configuration serves a dual purpose—it acts as a counterweight during rig balancing, reducing the system’s weight by up to 4 kg / 8.8 lb, and it enhances the stability of the wireless signal, resulting in smoother rotations and reduced height fluctuations of the antenna.
Connectivity lies at the heart of Trinity Live’s upgrade, featuring four new 4G video lines and a 10 Gbit shielded Ethernet line to accommodate the innovative wireless video link position. The upgrade kit includes a new centre post, post connection, top-stage junction box, and wiring loom.
In total, Trinity Live offers five 4G video lines, with the additional lines supporting various signal configurations. The enhanced connectivity ensures seamless wireless communication between the OB van and TRINITY Live, providing full camera control and communication for operators.
Curt O. Schaller, ARRI Product Manager Camera Stabiliser Systems, said: “At ARRI, we love to maximise our customer’s return on investment, so we’re pleased that the Trinity Live upgrade extends the life and functionality of Trinity Gen.1. For operators who want to expand into broadcast applications with Trinity Live but don’t already own a Trinity Gen.1, the best place to buy a used rig is the ARRI Certified Pre-Owned programme. However, if one is found elsewhere, it can be taken to any local ARRI service centre where all the checks will be made to make sure the equipment is in good working order for the upgrade before purchase.”
To cater to specific use cases, two additional Trinity Live upgrade options are available— the ARRI Master Grip Trinity upgrade for simultaneous control of a zoom lens and the stabiliser’s tilt axis and the 24 V upgrade for Trinity Live, enabling reliable 24 V camera power for flying cameras like ALEXA Mini LF, ALEXA 35, or Sony Venice.
