Blackmagic Camera 8.5.1 is now available as a free download.
Blackmagic Design has announced the release of Blackmagic Camera 8.5.1, marking the formal rollout of Blackmagic Camera 8.5 tailored for Blackmagic URSA Broadcast G2. This latest update introduces support for Blackmagic Cloud workflows, enabling users to seamlessly upload clips from the camera’s new media pool to Blackmagic Cloud and directly into DaVinci Resolve projects. Moreover, the addition of simultaneous proxy recording alongside Blackmagic RAW or ProRes facilitates swift transfer of footage to newsrooms or editing suites, expediting workflow processes.
Among the enhancements, this update significantly reduces SDI output latency, ensuring minimal delay between live action and displayed content on external monitors or screens, particularly during live events.
Blackmagic Camera 8.5.1 also integrates support for Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) streaming protocol, facilitating lower latency streaming and encrypted streams for enhanced security.
Furthermore, improvements extend to Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder and Blackmagic URSA Studio Viewfinder G2, with ISO recording colour changed from orange to yellow, and the ability to suppress preview or ISO tally via the URSA Broadcast G2’s camera menu.
Additional features include Ethernet-based camera management, support for REST APIs for remote camera control, secure login and password support, network time protocol support, web media manager support, file transfer protocol support, selective tally colour setting, and SMB file sharing support.
This comprehensive release also addresses issues identified during beta testing, encompassing general Blackmagic Cloud enhancements, improved pixel recalibration, enhanced data tethering compatibility with select Google Pixel phones, and refined H.265 and H.264 AV synchronization at 50, 59.94, and 60p on SDI out.
