Visitors will be able to witness the future of live production monitoring with the enhanced VB440 from Bridge Technologies at the event.
Bridge Technologies is set to showcase the advanced monitoring capabilities of the VB440 at NAB 2024, highlighting its latest innovation in monitoring ST 2110-31 and -41 SADM for the seamless transmission of immersive audio in live, uncompressed production setups. This enhancement, building on the VB440’s existing support for Dolby’s audio standards, solidifies its status as the go-to monitoring probe for IP production environments, particularly for broadcasters venturing into immersive audio and live production.
In traditional setups, immersive audio is encoded with an ADM file containing essential metadata for playback. However, in live production scenarios, incorporating the ADM file as metadata is impractical, necessitating its serialisation in the form of SADM.
Two methods are typically employed for this purpose. The first involves using an audio track to carry the metadata, albeit with drawbacks. Alternatively, the ST 2110 -41 standard enables the creation of a separate serialised metadata file for uncompressed transmission, albeit with added complexity and synchronisation risks.
The VB440 addresses these challenges by integrating ST 2110-41 monitoring and decoding, enabling real-time identification of sync issues and preemptive detection of network anomalies. Its intuitive interface provides a comprehensive view of audio and metadata transmission, empowering broadcasters with unparalleled insight into immersive audio production performance.
Speaking of the incorporation of the -31 and -41 standards, Chairman of Bridge Technologies Simen Frostad said: “Yet again, with the VB440 we are pushing forward the scope of what can be done in the field of live IP production. Our recent focus on audio advancements has seen us incorporate a range of crucial immersive audio tools, and currently, no other monitoring solution on the market incorporates ST 2110-31 or -41 monitoring. The development has been driven by a client’s need to deliver immersive audio for the live broadcast of one of the world’s largest global sporting events, coming up later this year – but its potential use will extend to a whole range of broadcasters and events. We’re excited to showcase its full potential at NAB2024.”
