Launched side by side, these two products expand Canon’s growing EOS R System of high-performance creative tools.
Canon has expanded its EOS R System with the launch of the EOS R6 Mark III camera and the RF 45mm F1.2 STM lens, introducing new tools aimed at photographers and filmmakers seeking greater creative control.
The EOS R6 Mark III sits above the EOS R6 Mark II and brings major upgrades in resolution, speed, tracking and connectivity. It features a new 32.5-megapixel full-frame sensor, 40fps continuous shooting, and an expanded buffer capable of capturing up to 150 RAW images when using CFexpress cards. With intelligent subject tracking, customisable controls and a weather-resistant build, the camera is designed to perform across demanding genres such as sports, wildlife, events, weddings and portrait photography.
Its low-light performance is bolstered by an ISO range that goes up to 64,000, in-camera crop modes for extended reach, and up to 8.5 stops of stabilisation for steady handheld shots. The camera also reduces storage demands compared to higher-resolution models while maintaining strong image quality.
The EOS R6 Mark III also offers advanced filmmaking capabilities, including 7K RAW Light recording up to 60p, oversampled 4K 60p footage and 4K 120p for dramatic slow motion. Additional tools such as Open Gate capture, waveform monitor, proxies, metadata tagging and full-size HDMI support give users a flexible and professional video workflow. Connectivity has also been upgraded with 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 and dual card slots for CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD cards.
Alongside the camera, Canon introduced the RF 45mm F1.2 STM, an ultra-fast prime lens that becomes the lightest f/1.2 RF lens in the lineup at just 346g. Marking Canon’s first enthusiast-level f/1.2 aperture lens, it brings shallow depth-of-field effects and strong low-light capability at a more accessible price point. Its STM autofocus system ensures smooth, quiet focusing, making it suitable for hybrid shooters working across photo and video.
The lens features a constant external length, separate focus and control rings, a 67mm filter size and a minimum focusing distance of 45cm. A durable metal mount, nine-blade aperture and compatibility with Canon’s focus breathing correction add to its appeal for creative users seeking cinematic results.
With the EOS R6 Mark III bridging the gap between the EOS R5 Mark II and EOS R6 Mark II, and the RF 45mm F1.2 STM expanding fast-aperture options for enthusiasts, Canon continues to strengthen its lineup of high-performance tools designed to elevate visual storytelling.
