The festival will showcase films from a diverse range of countries, including Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, France, Brazil, Japan, Sudan, Palestine, Oman and India, among others.
The films will compete for Best Live-Action Short Over 15 Minutes, Best Student International Short, and the Bridging the Borders Jury Award.
The programme's second cycle will be accepting online applications until June 1, 2024.
Submissions must be made by August 22, 2024, while the early bird submission period ends on July 5.
Khalil's work includes short films, documentaries, TV series, and feature films.
Two governors will represent the Animation Branch, comprising roughly 700 Academy members, while the Short Films Branch, with around 200 members, will have a single representative.
The film festival is scheduled to take place from February 10 to 14, 2024.
