In cooperation with TorinoFilmLab, Red Sea Lodge seeks to empower cinematic talents to launch and succeed in the film industry.
The initiative will help support Arab and African filmmakers and offer them a platform to further develop and finance their projects and connect with the film industry.
A total of 12 projects have been selected for the eight-month programme that will seek to mentor Saudi and Arab directors, producers and writers to develop inventive feature films.
The Lodge will see production grants of $100,000 awarded to two films and offer expanded mentoring and training programmes.
The jury, composed of Nadia Turincev, Meinolf Zurhorst and Yousry Nasrallah, selected and announced the winners.
The Red Sea Lodge Residency, which was due to take place at the Red Sea International Film Festival in March, will resume as a digital event on October 19.
Realness has, so far, supported 30 feature film projects from all over Africa.
The Golden Yusr Trophy for best feature carries a $100,000 cash prize and the Silver Yusr Trophy for best director is worth $50,000. There will also be an audience award carrying a cash prize of $50,000.
