Egyptian actor Mohammed Ramadan has announced that his drama series portraying the life of legendary actor Ahmed Zaki has been postponed. The Zaki series, El Embrator (The Emperor), was expected to air during the 2021 Ramadan drama season.
The delay comes after Zakis relatives rejected the biographic series. Ramadan, who was set to play the lead role, announced that the delay was in place until negotiations with Zakis heirs are resolved, Egyptian media reported.
In a post on Facebook, Ramadan said: The [Ahmed Zaki] series was postponed pending negotiations with his heirs Our next series (Moussa) is written by Nasser Abdel Rahman, directed by Mohamed Salama, and produced by Tamer Morsy.
Ahmed Zaki is regarded as one of the finest male actors in the Arab film industry. During his career, he starred in more than 60 movies including The Days of Sadat, Nasser 56, Ard Al-Khof and Maali Al Wazir.
He died in Cairo in 2005, aged 55.
