Egyptian distributors Four Star Films released Universal Pictures latest film The Hunt in Egyptian cinemas on July 22. Heralded as one of the worlds most controversial thrillers of all times, the film revolves around a group of 12 strangers who find themselves kidnapped and deserted in the distant forests.
They understand that they have been picked up to be part of a human hunt game contrived by a bundle of twist-minded elites. Unbeknownst to them all, this diabolic humans-hunting-humans game unleashes a bath of blood on both sides, turning into a game where the hunted chases the hunter.
Upon its release in the US, the film raised huge controversy across the country for being deemed carrying references to the supporters and opponents the hunters and the hunted- of Donald Trump, President of the USA. The Hunt filmmakers denied any similarities between the films theme and reality, affirming it was just a hunt game thriller.
Directed by Craig Zobel, The Hunt is co-written by Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers). The film stars Hilary Swank, who won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Actress (Golden Dollar Baby, Boys Dont Cry) alongside Betty Gilpin, Ike Barinholtz, Amy Madigan, Emma Roberts and Ethan Suplee.
