AR More and Virgin Megastore virtually briefed AUD students of the Creative Advertising course to make an AR effect themed around Halloween.
AR More, a social AR design and production studio in the Middle East, has teamed up with the American University of Dubai and Virgin Megastore to introduce the first AR marketing course in the region.
Augmented reality effects, more commonly known as Instagram filters and Snapchat lenses, are one of the new advancements in social media. AR effects on social media are a new form of content that enhances each activity to its fullest resulting in an interactivity increase and creative thinking by users.
AR More and Virgin Megastore virtually briefed the junior and senior AUD students of the Creative Advertising course to make an effect themed around Halloween.
Virgin Megastore is giving each student the creative freedom to tackle Halloween the way they like. By October 11, all students must present their submissions where Virgin Megastore and AR More will judge each effect.
A winner will be announced by October 21. This winner will not only get their effect published on Instagram but also get the chance to shadow Virgin Megastore MENA Creative Director Martin Galabov for one week.
Commenting on the course, Mina Litvinova, Founder of AR More said: “The communications industry is currently experiencing a “mixed reality revolution” and mixed reality content in 2020 is what social media content was in 8-10 years ago when social media platforms were still in their early days – the users are already actively engaging with this content while marketers are learning about it, yet the future belongs to mixed reality content. When it comes to AR specifically the estimated growth of the global market size of AR in the next 5 years varies between 50-80%, meaning understanding AR marketing will inevitably become a mandatory skill for marketers. Being pioneers in social AR, we believe it’s crucial to share our knowledge and expertise in this discipline with advertising/marketing students today for them to be well prepared to deliver effective marketing solutions for the now and the future.”
Dina Faour, Professor of Advertising at the American University in Dubai remarked: “We, at AUD, are committed to offering our students an optimal learning experience that puts theory into practice, all within a current, relevant and realistic context that engages leading institutions within the industry. This, we believe, gets them life ready. We would like to thank AR More for facilitating the latest knowledge on Augmented Reality and the endless possibilities it brings to the world of social media marketing. We also thank AR More for working closely with our students as they generate their solutions that best serve the much-beloved brand, Virgin ME.”
