At the 9th edition of the Dubai Film festival, Arab actors from the met yesterday at the Forum Room to discuss about the film industry and the way forward.
The industry panel titled Staying at the Top was held in Arabic. The pannelist included Egyptian actress Laila Eloui, Chadi Haddad, actor from Blind Intersections, Ali Suliman from The Attack and Cinetea agent Cedric Pourcher.
It was moderated by Antoine Khalife, International Relations Manager, DIFF and the discussions revolved around the decisions, strategies and sacrifices needed to be made in order to make a mark as an actor.
Also discussed was the need for an agent to represent the actors like how is done in Hollywood. Marketing of films too was a topic touched upon where it was highlighted that Arabic films need to be marketed abroad with more focused drive.
Lastly, casting was an issue looked into as often one see’s the same set of actor on screen. The panelist also acknowledged that TV serials have improved especially due to the fact that cinema techniques are now used.
The forum was very animated and had key people from the industry attending it.
