Image Nation Abu Dhabi and online science and technology publication, Futurism, have formed a wide-reaching content partnership to develop and produce feature films and documentaries, along with scripted and unscripted television series.
The companies will also collaborate across existing platforms to market and distribute content. This will include Quest Arabiya, Image Nation and Discovery Communications free-to-air factual entertainment television channel broadcasting across MENA, and Mostaqbal, Futurisms Arabic-language content portal.
This deal brings two leading content creators together to tackle some of the biggest topics of our time, including technology, science and societal change, said Ben Ross, Head of Narrative Film and Television at Image Nation Abu Dhabi. Image Nation Abu Dhabi recently premiered its local production Shabab Sheyab, a feel-good drama/comedy in North America at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Futurism currently sees around 140 million hits a month on its website with its content based around science, technology and central narrative of tomorrow. In 2016, the company launched Arabic language website Mostaqbal, to cater for its growing Middle Eastern audience.
Futurism Studios, a content creation subsidiary of Futurism, is currently in production with EnTech Studio SingularDTV on documentary feature Trust Machine about blockchain and how this new technology is connecting us all and radically changing the world. The film is being directed by award-winning filmmaker Alex Winter (Deep Web) and is the first film to be completely funded and distributed via blockchain technologies.
