Katara Studios plans to roll out the film across the Gulf region in spring 2026.
In a landmark moment for Qatar’s film industry, Sa3oud Wainah?, the first feature film produced by Katara Studios with a fully Qatari cast and crew, premiered at the Doha Film Festival. The red-carpet event signalled a significant step forward for the nation’s growing cinematic landscape, showcasing local talent both in front of and behind the camera.
Sa3oud Wainah? is a mystery thriller directed by Qatari filmmaker Mohammed Al Ibrahim, who also serves as a Senior Content Developer at Katara Studios.
The premiere reunited the film’s cast, including Mishal Al Dosari, Saad Al Naimi, Abdullah Al Harbi, Ibrahim Al Mirza, Aziz Al Dorani, Ali Al-Marri, Anas Khalaf and Jabr Al-Fayyad. They were joined by the creative team led by director Mohamed Al Ibrahim, producer Ahmed Al Baker, Hussein Fakhry and Luca Bercovici, who together brought the project to life.
The film centres on two brothers attempting to replicate an old magic trick taught to them by their father. When the older brother, Sa3oud, causes Hamood to vanish, what begins as a playful experiment soon unravels into panic. As their friends try to make sense of the disappearance, a series of strange events raises an unsettling question: where did Hamood truly go?
Combining elements of magical realism, mystery and suspense, Sa3oud Wainah? offers a thriller that explores family tensions and the emotional impact of long-buried secrets. The film underscores Katara Studios’ commitment to producing authentic Arab stories with international appeal.
