Middlesex University (MDX) Dubai has introduced a new Master of Science in Sport Performance Analysis, marking the first time this specialisation has been offered.
As professional sports teams and elite athletes increasingly depend on objective data and performance analysis to elevate their performance, this new degree meets the rising global demand for skilled performance analysts. The programme, delivered by industry professionals and MDX Dubai’s expert faculty, immerses students in the dynamic, data-driven world of sports analysis.
Addressing a critical need in the market, the course thoroughly covers how to record, harness and effectively utilise sports data in both professional and amateur settings.
The degree delves into the intricacies of sports data and technology, equipping students with comprehensive knowledge and analytical techniques necessary to impact athletic performance.

Moving beyond traditional sports management, the programme provides participants with the skills and tools to generate data from various sports and analyse the data using AI tools and algorithms. The hands-on programme includes practical study, self-directed study and project-based learning. Engaging modules cover performance indicators, performance profiling, reliability testing and statistical analysis, using cutting-edge, industry-standard software such as Sportscode and Dartfish.
Recently confirmed as the largest UK KHDA-licensed university in Dubai by student enrolments in the KHDA Open Data Report 2023 – 2024, MDX Dubai will offer the programme both full-time and part-time, with applications now open for September 2024.
Delivered in specialist lab facilities developed exclusively for the degree, the programme does not include formal lectures.
Graduates will be well-positioned for career opportunities beyond sports, including roles such as Performance Analyst, Sports Scientist, Coach, Sports Technology Consultant and Data Analyst in business and technology contexts.
