UK media company Africa MediaWorks is launching Yanga!, an entertainment channel targeting the African diaspora.
International EPG services provider EBS has announced a key delivery deal with Yanga!, launching in the UK on Sky. The channel’s EPG and scheduling information will now be distributed across Sky platforms nationwide by the EBS scheduling and content delivery team.
All Yanga! scheduling and metadata distribution will be handled exclusively through EBS Pawa2 metadata solution.
Yanga! delivers a range of programming genres including lifestyle, comedy, music and drama to kids, current affairs and news bulletins. The schedule reportedly presents a curation of content from the international diaspora and from Africa.
Yanga! means self-pride and showing-off in West African pidgin and our vision is to create a channel that celebrates the eclectic and inspirational lives and culture of Africans living in the UK. Yanga! will nurture new talent, both in front and behind the camera which is an important part of the ambition of Africa MediaWorks, to strengthen and scale the volume and quality of African content said Africa MediaWorks Managing Director Lindsey Oliver.
