IndiaCast, the content monetisation arm of TV18 and Viacom18 has announced the launch of the first ever locally produced show on the recently launched Rishtey Asia TV Channel, called Salaam Namaste UAE. The show revolves around the South Asian diaspora who have moved to the UAE and made this their second home. The show will run for 13 weeks.
The concept of Salaam Namaste draws inspiration from ordinary citizens who have been visionaries in their chosen fields. The tagline Our Neighbours, Our Inspiration talks about people like Ruchika Karla, a young lady with a powerful dream to make UAE wheelchair-friendly through her initiative Wings of Angelz Build a Ramp. Another extraordinary initiative is Shukran Workers started by two Indian expats who decided to bring joy to the lives of domestic help by organising movie screenings for them. Sobia Khan Foundation of Arts & Heritage of India is another inspiring organisation which promotes and widens the horizon of Indian culture through different art forms. Gulshan Kavarana, the Head of the Special Families Support (SFS) Group, helps families cope with special needs children by being a motivator and a coach. These are few of the inspiring individuals that will be featured on the show.
Speaking about the show, Sachin Gokhale, Business Head Middle East & Africa and Head of Sales & Marketing, APAC at IndiaCast: All of us South Asian expats have come to the UAE with a lot of dreams and hopes. Most of us are still pursuing them but there are some inspiring people who have followed their passions and in doing so have made a big difference in their lives and to the local community. Through Salaam Namaste UAE, we aim to present many such successful & heartwarming stories that are untold or have been hitherto unheard of. This pure content based show will not only entertain our viewers but will also surely inspire them to realize their own aspirations.
The shows title song Is Sheher Mein has been composed and performed by Rajiv and Johan, the winners of MTV Indias Next Big Thing 2015, which was held in Dubai last year. This music video will be aired across MTV India and International beams.
Currently at the filming stage, this 13 episode series will cover inspirational stories of individuals who have made a difference to the lives of the people in the country staying true to their South Asian culture along the way. Each episode has three segments. First segment focuses on the personalities who reside in the UAE and have worked their way to make their dreams a reality. Second segment features inspiring individuals who have made a difference to the society through their humanitarian acts. The last segment highlights locations and events within UAE that create nostalgia for those away from home.
The shows concept and content research has been developed by Zainab Ali. It has been produced by Queen Bee Productions & is hosted by popular RJ Karishma Fernandez. Salaam Namaste UAE will be showcased on Rishtey Asia starting 26th March 2016 every Saturdays at 8:30pm, with repeat telecast on Rishtey Asia, Friday 2:00pm and on Colors TV Middle East Friday 01:00pm.
