The Series A extension funding bring the total for the round to $57m, adding to the $17m raised for Series A last year.
Quantum Space, a space technology company focused on national defense applications, has closed a $40m Series A extension round, with backing from Prime Movers Lab, Sporos Capital, 1802 Ventures, AnD Ventures, and others. This latest funding will fuel the rapid development of Ranger, the companys innovative spacecraft platform designed for agile, multi-orbit defence missions.
The new investment brings Quantum Spaces total Series A funding to $57m, following an initial $17m raised last year. The company plans to use the fresh capital to speed up Rangers development, scale its technical team, and expand its pursuit of major government and defense contracts.
Ranger is specifically engineered to address growing threats in space, including hypersonic weapons and anti-satellite technologies. With its ability to maneuver quickly and operate across various orbits, the platform is positioned to offer persistent surveillance and adaptable mission capabilities in contested environments.
Kerry Wisnosky, CEO of Quantum Space, said: “America needs modern systems that respond to the rise of hypersonic weapons, and anti-satellite threats, that is why we created Quantum Spaces Ranger fleet, offering persistent presence, rapid maneuverability, and mission configurability for contested orbital environments. Ranger is built to compete in this era. The mission is clear, and the time is now.”
Nishant Machado, Managing Partner of Sporos Capital, added: “We are very pleased to be partnering with Quantum Space as we believe they are uniquely positioned to play a pivotal role in supporting our national defense needs in space. Their Ranger platform is uniquely suited to support next-generation initiatives like Golden Dome, and we believe Quantum Space can help reshape how the US operates in orbit.”
Quantum Space has already secured several contracts from government and commercial entities, including two defense-related deals totaling around $30m. These agreements signal strong market demand for Rangers maneuver-first approach and reinforce the companys pivot toward defense-focused operations.
To strengthen its leadership in this sector, Quantum Space recently appointed Richard S. Matlock as Head of National Defense Programmes. With over four decades of experience, including senior roles at the Missile Defense Agency and Department of Defense, Matlock joins a leadership team seasoned in defense and aerospace innovation. CEO Wisnosky brings more than 30 years of experience supporting national security programmes, while Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Dr Kam Ghaffarian is known for founding high-profile ventures like X-energy, Axiom Space, and Intuitive Machines.
