This year, Asharq News Network broadened its range of offerings, introducing Asharq Documentary, Asharq Discovery, and a new suite of audio products featuring Asharq Podcasts and Radio Asharq with Bloomberg.
Asharq News Network celebrated its third year in operation this week, solidifying its position as a prominent Arabic news service. Operating 24/7 across various platforms, the network has aired news and in-depth analyses through an economic lens to audiences not only in the Arab world but also globally.
Launched in 2020, Asharq News Network entered the industry with an exclusive content agreement with Bloomberg Media, a renowned leader in business and financial information news. This partnership birthed “Asharq Business with Bloomberg,” a programme airing an average of 10 hours daily, offering extensive insights into the economic landscape.
Positioning itself as a key Arabic-language business news provider, Asharq News and Asharq Business with Bloomberg cater to a diverse audience, appealing to both business leaders and a younger generation cognizant of global economic, financial, and corporate affairs. The exclusive agreement provides access to Bloomberg’s extensive financial and economic content, ensuring a wealth of analysis and market data.
With a dedicated television channel and a strong digital presence, Asharq News Network delivers continuous insights into the events, people, organisations, and ideas shaping the MENA region and international markets.
The network’s popular programmes include the business morning show, Assabah Maa Cyba, along with East Indices, Aswaq Asharq, East West, and the Evening Session. It also covers specialised topics through social media accounts, such as Asharq Business Sports, Asharq Business Crypto, Asharq Business Technology, and Asharq Business Green, ensuring a comprehensive reach.
Expanding its content agreement with Bloomberg Media, Asharq News Network introduced “Asharq Quicktake,” the Arabic edition of the Quicktake streaming news platform. This platform focuses on prominent international news, particularly in the realms of business, technology, politics, and culture, aiming to engage youth and Arabic-speaking audiences across the MENA region.
Headquartered in Riyadh, with central offices in Dubai, UAE, and Washington DC, and major hubs in Cairo and Abu Dhabi, Asharq News Network boasts an extensive network of regional offices and correspondents, tapping into Bloomberg’s global network of reporters.
In just three years, Asharq News has become the fastest-growing news channel on social media in the MENA region, amassing 50m followers across all platforms. The platform has secured over 35 global and regional awards, with its morning programme, Assabah Maa Cyba, winning Best Economic Programme at the Arab Media Awards this year.
Building on its success, Asharq News Network expanded its offerings this year by introducing two new free-to-view multi-channel platforms: Asharq Documentary and Asharq Discovery. Additionally, the network launched a suite of new audio products, including Asharq Podcasts and Radio Asharq with Bloomberg, responding to the growing demand for audio content locally and regionally.
Commenting on the anniversary, Dr Nabeel AlKhatib, General Manager of Asharq News, said: “Asharq has witnessed exceptional growth in audience figures from Asharq News and Asharq Business with Bloomberg. The successful growth is a testament to the quality of Asharq platforms. The objective is to meet our audience’s demands by providing the information they need, in the places they want to view, to inform, inspire and empower decision-making. The new free-to-view platforms: Asharq Documentary, Asharq Discovery, and Asharq audio offerings are a natural new phase in the Asharq expansion journey.”
