This year's event aims to explore the challenges and opportunities offered by the evolution of digital technologies in the broadcast media sector.
The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) has announced that its 16th General Assembly will take place from June 18 to 20, 2025, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, under the theme: Empowering the Media: What Strategies for Financial and Technological Resilience and Innovative Content?
Bringing together Directors General of media organisations, broadcasting executives, policymakers, academics, content creators and industry partners from across the continent, the high-level gathering will address the evolving challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in Africa’s broadcasting sector.
Key discussions will centre around strategies to secure high-quality content despite financial constraints, increasing competitiveness, and rapid technological advancements. Participants will also tackle the growing burden of satellite broadcasting costs on African broadcasters’ budgets.
As part of the event, the AUB will honour outstanding achievements in African broadcast production during the AUB MEDIA AWARDS 2025.
The AUB, the media professional organisation, represents both public and private radio and television entities, working to advance all aspects of broadcasting in Africa. Through its AUBVISION platform, the organisation promotes the exchange and distribution of original African content across the region.
