Integrated communications provider in Bahrain, Batelco has shut down its service that offers customers the convenience of selecting online or on their mobiles the cinema, number of tickets, movie, show time as well as seating.
Once the purchase was confirmed, the customer was given a code which then was used at Quick Serve machines located at select cinemas in Bahrain to collect their tickets. For prepaid mobile customers, the cost of the cinema tickets was deducted from their credit while postpaid customers will be charged in their telephone bill.
In addition to this service, customers could also find out what other movies were playing, along with ratings, casting and plot overview.
Batelco was even awarded the Bahrain eContent Award 2011 in the e-Entertainment Category for O Cinema.
This innovative and convenient O Cinema service, which has been a huge success, means that there is no need to queue, as customers may go directly to the quick serve machine, enter their confirmation code and collect their selected tickets, Batelco Group General Manager Media Relations Ahmed Al Janahi had stated regarding the service when it was in use.
Innovations such as O Cinema are in line with Batelcos aspiration to continuously improve the use of modern technology through customer focused and convenient solutions, thus enhancing the lives of all our customers, he had added.
Yet currently, on visiting the website film goers are met with disappoint.
The service is unavailable. Please try again later, it states.
As a result, rumours claim that the service may make a comeback but as a paid application.
BroascastPro has sent a query to Batelco and is awaiting their response.
