'Bahebek' has had the biggest ever Opening Weekend in Saudi Arabia, beating 'Top Gun' by 10% and 'Jurassic World Dominion' by 71%.
Egyptian romcom Bahebek (I Love You), starring Tamer Hosni, opened last weekend at #1 in the Middle East with a total of $ 4.26m in GBO (Gross Box Office) revenues across the MENA region until Sunday with more than 303,000 admissions, making the biggest opening weekend for an Arabic title.
On July 11, Bahebek marked the second highest-grossing day in Saudi Arabia after Spiderman No Way Home‘s first day, which included a late-night show. It has earned $965K at the box office.
Bahebek, also directed by Tamer Hosni, tells a story of a self-made middle-class businessman who finds himself torn between two loves.
As the second-highest opening weekend of a movie in 2022, Bahebek surpassed Top Gun by 10%, Jurassic World Dominion by 71%, and is the fifth-highest ever opening weekend for a film in Saudi Arabia.
The film is distributed worldwide by Orient Films, the company behind the recently distributed Egyptian hit Waafet Reggaala and Men Agl Ziko.
Italia Film has the film’s distribution rights for Saudi Arabia and Levant countries, which include Lebanon and Jordan, while Kuwait distribution rights are being handled by IFD.
