According to the report, Despite Disney+ adding 57m subscribers between 2022 and 2028, Netflix will remain the leading platform.
Global SVOD subscriptions will increase by 400m between 2022 and 2028 to reach 1.76bn, according to the latest report by Digital TV Research.
According to the research, there is still plenty of SVOD growth left. By 2028, 24 countries will have more than 10m SVOD subscriptions.
Six US-based platforms will have 972m SVOD subscribers by 2028 (55% of the world’s total), up from 711m in 2022. Much of this fast growth will come from the younger platforms completing their global rollouts.
Commenting on the findings of the report, Simon Murray, Principal Analyst at Digital TV Research, said: “Netflix will remain the largest platform despite Disney+ adding 57m subscribers between 2022 and 2028. Netflix will add 46m subscribers.”
