Broadcasters today are looking for solutions to improve their workflow efficiencies; enabling their facilities to break away from proprietary or hardware-based systems which have become inefficient, outdated and expensive.
For Broadcasters, an IP based Ethernet infrastructure is becoming an increasingly popular replacement to the traditional SDI-based infrastructure.
IP infrastructures permit video data to be transported over Ethernet networks rather than via SDI switches and cables, and offer numerous advantages to broadcasters. IP infrastructures are scalable, provide greater signal capacity, are more flexible and far less costly to build and maintain but broadcasters need to be careful not to sacrifice any functionality they require in the change.
This paper highlights in detail how new, innovative and cost-effective technologies used by world-leading broadcasters including PBS remotely manage, monitor and adjust streams from satellites, camera feeds, playout devices and other sources with an IP-based infrastructure.
