As one of Lableb's earliest clients, Majarra has directly benefited from Lableb's Arabic technologies.
Arabic digital content provider Majarra has announced the acquisition of Lableb, an Arabic language artificial intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) startup. This strategic acquisition strengthens Majarra’s position in Arabic digital innovation and marks its entry into the burgeoning AI sector.
This transaction makes Majarra the majority owner of Lableb, enabling a more complete integration of the two entities. This move aligns with Majarra’s mission to enhance the utility of Arabic online content through reliable sources, advanced user experiences and cutting-edge Arabic language technologies.
Lableb’s advanced AI and NLP technologies enhance content discovery and personalisation, providing enterprise search and recommendation engines. These solutions are widely used by online stores, government platforms, news websites and enterprise software providers, where precise Arabic language processing is essential. Lableb has collaborated with major tech companies like Microsoft and AWS, as well as leading e-commerce platforms such as Zid, Salla, and Shopify and CMS providers like NVSoft.
Majarra, an early client of Lableb, has experienced the transformative impact of Label’s technologies firsthand. Manhom.com, powered by Lableb’s Named Entity Recognition (NER) technology, has emerged as a premier Arabic source for professional information in the region. Lableb’s innovations also drive search and content discovery across all Majarra platforms, including its flagship Majarra app.
Under Majarra’s ownership, Lableb will retain its operational independence, continuing to focus on overcoming the challenges of Arabic language processing. Arabic’s complex morphology, diverse dialects, and context-dependent meanings have historically posed significant difficulties for machine understanding. Lableb’s success in addressing these challenges underscores the strategic value of this acquisition.
Speaking about the acquisition, Majarra’s executive chairman Abdulsalam Haykal and CEO Ammar Haykal said: “Majarra and Lableb share a common foundation and vision. Co-founder of Lableb Kinda Altarbouch’s leadership and the team’s unwavering commitment to the transformative power of Arabic AI/NLP for regional businesses have consistently delivered exceptional product quality. Through Labb, we see immense potential in bringing real-life applications to Large Language Models (LLMs), some of which have emerged from our region.”
Kinda Altarbouch added: “Joining Majarra marks an exciting new chapter for Labbouch. Our shared vision of advancing Arabic AI and NLP will drive innovation and deliver significant value to online businesses and their customers. Lableb’s tools are robust, ready to deploy, and capable of handling millions of queries weekly.”
Marcus Brauchli, Managing Director of North Base Media, commented: “This acquisition is timely and demonstrates Majarra’s agility in responding to market evolution. By incorporating AI products into its portfolio, Majarra adds a crucial technology dimension to its offerings. While LLMs are transformative, their true potential can only be realised through AI agents like those Label provides.”
