Nevion comes to NAB with the show theme from baseband to IP how to transition without disrupting workflows, places a particular focus on studios and campuses:
A non-proprietary, standards-based IP approach delivers the benefits of IT technology
Real Software Defined Networking (SDN) can be used to create the deterministic level of reliability and performance for media networks
Co-existence between baseband and IP can be achieved, protecting existing baseband investment by transitioning progressively to IP
At the Nevion booth SU2615, attendees will see demonstrations based on the following solutions:
VideoIPath and SDN
Nevions award-winning managed media transport platform, VideoIPath, is a key part of managing the transition to IP. It hides network complexity, ensuring that workflows are not disrupted as the underlying technology changes. VideoIPath has also been integrated with OpenFlow, an SDN-based communications protocol that delivers the defined and predictable reliability and performance required by broadcasters.
Sublime X² hybrid router
Combining routing with signal processing and high redundancy, the unique Sublime X² hybrid video/audio router offers the functionality that normally requires multiple pieces of equipment or a much larger router. As studios transition to IP, the Sublime X2 provides baseband islands with interconnectivity and signal processing.
NX4600 media gateway
The latest addition to Nevions media gateway family, the NX4600 offers H.264/AVC encoding and decoding with unmatched flexibility, density, ease of use and cost-effectiveness. The NX4600 enables the efficient and transparent transport of baseband video signals over IP, for example for backhaul or contribution applications.
TNS media monitoring
The compact TNS4200 media monitoring probe is a powerful toolbox, providing broadcasters with the ability to continuously monitor up to several hundred transport streams. The TNS4200 bridges both baseband and IP technology, enabling services to be monitored efficiently across technologies to ensure quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE).
TICO compression technology for 4K
Nevion will also be showing TICO lightweight compression applied to 4K/UHD. Nevion is part of the TICO Alliance – leading broadcast equipment manufacturers, OEM providers, broadcasters, electronics brands and technology companies that support TICO compression, a new lightweight compression technology that enables 4K/UHD to be transported over legacy SDI infrastructure and modern IP production and contribution networks.
