V-Nova and Qvest Media have announced a strategic partnership at IBC 2015.
With PERSEUS V-Nova has developed a fundamentally new approach to video and image processing and it offers advanced compression with significant improvements in picture quality, processing speeds and power efficiency. The codec is claimed to be robust and continuously hierarchical, with a single stream structure carrying SD, HD and UHD video qualities. This structure negates the bandwidth infrastructure limitations inherent with legacy compression technologies.
The V-Nova system offers bandwidth savings, delivering UHD video at HD bitrates, HD at SD bitrates, and SD at sub-audio bitrates. This opens up significant growth opportunities in the HD and UHD markets in terms of live encoding, broadcasting, distribution and content streaming in formats up to 4K.
“With PERSEUS, V-Nova meets the challenge of constantly increasing amounts of data and ever higher data rates,” said Daniel Url, Managing Director of Qvest Media.
“During the first review of the technical information about PERSEUS, we were very curious. Because until now it had been virtually impossible to demand a low bit rate, very low latency and, at the same time, high image quality from a codec. However, a live demo and subsequent technical analysis have completely convinced us. In our opinion, PERSEUS is an obvious pioneer in codec and compression technology.”
PERSEUS offers scalability for broadcasting, contribution, production, storage and distribution applications at all video quality levels. The technology is also readily adaptable to mature digital ecosystems, infrastructures and workflows. PERSEUS encoders and decoders are available as server and PC-based appliances, embedded software and codec plug-ins.
“With Qvest Media we have found a strong partner for bringing our products to a large base of enterprises for professional solutions. We are convinced that we will be able to gradually expand our activities in the broadcast and media environment thanks to the extensive network that our new partner enjoys with manufacturers and users in this industry,” said Guido Meardi, CEO and founder of V-Nova.
“Since its award-winning NAB 2015 debut, PERSEUS has transitioned from being a novelty to an established commercial reality at IBC. Global distribution and support through Tier-1 players, such as Qvest Media, are a testament to PERSEUS growing commercial importance and that it will be driving customer value for the long-term. We are just at the beginning of the PERSEUS story,” concluded Eric Achtmann, V-Nova Executive Chairman & Co-Founder.
