Red Sea Labs, a renowned incubator for creative talent, has extended the submission deadline for its fifth edition of the film residency programme. Designed to nurture the artistic and professional growth of teams comprising Saudi, Arab, Asian, and African filmmakers and producers, this immersive programme is set to propel selected projects from ideation to realisation, providing a platform for emerging talents.
Filmmakers from Saudi Arabia seeking to participate in this residency programme have the opportunity to submit their projects until January 20. As for filmmakers from the Arab, Asian, and African regions, the deadline for project submissions is January 30, 2024.
Participants in the programme will benefit from specialised mentorship and thorough training covering various facets of film script development and production. A total of 16 projects will be chosen for subsequent development.
In 2024, the Lodge is set to expand its programme over 10 months, featuring five workshops. The first workshop exclusively caters to selected Saudi teams, while the subsequent four are open to all chosen projects. This extended duration aims to provide a comprehensive understanding and solid foundation for exploring the full dramatic and production potentials of each project. Following the development phase and meetings with industry professionals, the culmination of the programme will take place at the Red Sea Souk during the fourth Red Sea International Film Festival. Winners will be announced, and a total of $200,000 in award money will be distributed based on merit, marking a significant step towards recognising and supporting emerging talents in the global film landscape.
