The submission is open to films and projects directed by individuals of Saudi, Arab, African, or Asian nationality or origin.
The Red Sea Souk, a market initiative of the Red Sea International Film Festival, has opened submissions for its Project Market, set to take place from December 7-11, 2024. This event will run alongside the film festival, featuring 24 projects in development or production and up to 10 works-in-progress (films in post-production).
Designed to support and foster international co-productions and discover new talents, the Red Sea Souk Project Market targets industry professionals. The market is open to projects directed by individuals of Saudi, Arab, African, or Asian nationality or origin.
Eligible projects include feature films (fiction, animation, and creative documentaries) in development or production, with a minimum duration of 60 minutes. Key deadlines for submissions are July 15, 2024, for projects in development or production, and August 29, 2024, for projects in post-production.
Selected projects will compete for cash awards provided by the Red Sea Fund, awarded by the Project Market juries. Additional awards funded by sponsors and partners are also available. All projects will be showcased during live pitching sessions and one-on-one meetings with industry guests.
Each selected project team (director and producer) will receive support from an industry mentor to maximise their market experience. This includes both online support before the festival and in-person guidance in Jeddah.
A Book of Projects will be available on the Festival website and distributed to industry guests, enhancing visibility for the projects and teams. The selected project teams will present their work to an industry audience on December 7, 2024, followed by one-on-one meetings from December 8-11, 2024.
Networking events and meetings will provide further opportunities for directors and producers to engage with industry decision-makers. Non-English-speaking filmmakers will have access to interpreter services.
Winners will be announced at the Red Sea Souk Award Ceremony on December 11, 2024. Awards include the Development Award ($30,000), Special Mention Award ($20,000), and Production Award ($75,000).
