The lab targets interested screenwriters who are working on their feature films in the early stages of development.
The Royal Film Commission – Jordan has announced the call for applications for the second round of the Sardiyat Screenwriters’ Lab, a specialised programme designed to enhance the storytelling skills of Jordanian screenwriters and those residing in Jordan.
The initiative aims to elevate the quality of Jordanian feature films by supporting writers in the early stages of their projects.
This round of the Sardiyat Lab offers emerging screenwriters the opportunity to work on their first full-length screenplays with guidance from leading Arab and Jordanian screenwriters. The lab will be conducted entirely in Arabic and take place in a secluded location outside Amman, fostering a focused and supportive creative environment.
An independent committee will select participants, and five experienced mentors will provide personalized support during a writing retreat. The lab, scheduled for January 12-17, 2025, is expected to contribute to the growth of Jordan’s cinematic landscape by helping writers develop their narrative skills and refine their projects.
Applicants must submit required documents, including a logline, synopsis, dramatic treatment and an optional script in development, along with their CV and links to previous works. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The deadline for submissions is September 14, 2024.
