Dedicated Space enhances network performance by allocating satellite bandwidth specifically to each aircraft and its passengers, ensuring low latency and aiming to deliver a consistently reliable internet experience.
Anuvu, a global provider of high-speed inflight connectivity and entertainment solutions, has announced a major upgrade to its Dedicated Space platform, reporting a more than 35% increase in peak download speeds. The enhancement marks a significant step forward in meeting rising passenger demand for faster, more reliable in-flight internet.
Originally launched in 2022, Dedicated Space optimises satellite network performance by allocating specific satellite capacity to individual aircraft and users. This targeted approach ensures a low-latency, high-reliability internet experience, particularly critical for modern travellers. Today, the platform is operational on more than 800 aircraft across six airline clients in North America and Europe.
The upgraded system has delivered notable improvements: download speeds have doubled, upload capacity has quadrupled and availability during satellite and beam transitions has increased by over 65% compared to Anuvus previous network. These gains reflect the company’s focus on enhancing user experience through next-generation technology.
As part of its broader infrastructure development, Anuvu has also completed ground installations in preparation for the upcoming launch of its microGEO satellite service, which includes the next phase of the Dedicated Space platform. The newly enhanced network is already yielding faster data transfer rates and smoother satellite handovers.
Mike Pigott, EVP Connectivity at Anuvu, said: “Were excited to have such a positive response to the increasing demand for inflight connectivity performance. The results show extremely fast satellite handovers and the lowest latency of any GEO-based SATCOM system, meaning industry-leading performance for our airlines passengers.”
