The partnership aims to expedite Senegals digitisation by harnessing satellite communication solutions.
The Senegalese Space Study Agency/Agence Sénégalaise dEtudes Spatiale (ASES) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regional Association Satellite Communication Organisation (RASCOM) during the AU-EU Space Dialogue taking place in Senegal. The strategic partnership aims to enhance and expedite Senegals digitisation initiatives by harnessing the capabilities of satellite communication solutions.
The MoU was signed by Timothy Adi Ashong, Acting Director General of RASCOM and Maram Kaire, the Director General of the ASES, in the presence of H.E. Amadou Ba, the Prime Minister of Senegal.
This collaborative effort will impact several sectors in Senegal, including but not limited to telecommunications, agriculture, education, and healthcare. It seeks to bridge the digital divide across Senegal by leveraging advanced satellite communication technologies and bringing essential services to even the most remote and underserved areas.
Furthermore, the MoU signifies Senegals commitment to staying at the forefront of space technology and innovation in Africa, aligning with the broader vision of the African Union-European Union Dialogue to foster cooperation and growth. This cooperation will pave the way for improved connectivity, data access, and information dissemination, ultimately driving economic development and societal progress in Senegal.
