A new Point of Presence site extends the global footprint of F5 Distributed Cloud Services, a cloud-native platform designed to connect and secure distributed applications while delivering high performance and carrier-grade reliability.
F5 has strengthened its global network by launching a new Point of Presence (PoP) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), designed to enhance the connectivity and security of distributed applications in multi-cloud and edge environments.
The newly operational PoP is part of F5’s cloud-native platform, which is optimised for app-to-app connectivity and security.
Mohammed Abukhater, RVP for the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa at F5, said: “The ability to manage and protect application workloads via an F5 PoP will be hugely beneficial for both our existing and future customers across the region. Optimized for app-to-app connectivity and security, our PoPs stand out in the market by consolidating multiple services across monolithic and microservices apps. This significantly simplifies app and API management, security, as well as network connectivity across distributed infrastructures.”
With over 15 Tbps of peered capacity, F5 PoPs are interconnected via a dedicated, redundant private backbone, offering seamless connectivity across cloud providers, telecom operators, and enterprise edge locations. These PoPs enable customers to offload high-performance and latency-sensitive workloads and serve as a distributed control plane with software running on the customers edge or cloud infrastructure.
F5’s Distributed Cloud Platform offers a range of services through its PoPs, including routing, SD-WAN termination, load balancing, multi-layer security, Kubernetes-based app orchestration and a globally distributed app gateway. Notable security features include L3-L7 DDoS protection, network firewall capabilities and advanced AI/ML-driven application security. F5 PoPs are housed in secure colocation facilities, ensuring physical security through stringent protocols like biometrics and video sensors.
This new PoP is expected to further bolster F5’s services across the Middle East, supporting the regions growing demand for secure, scalable application infrastructures.
Abukhater added: “Today, organisations manage huge numbers of applications, connected by APIs, that span both traditional and modern architectures and are distributed across multiple clouds, SaaS, on-premises data centres, and edge sites. At the same time, apps have become the front door to cybercrime, and APIs are increasingly the key. F5 is the only solution provider that can secure, deliver, and optimise any app and any API regardless of location.”
