According to the MoU, for space exploration, SpaceData will create a high-fidelity lunar digital twin platform while for supporting economic initiatives, they will deliver a detailed Earth-based digital twin platform.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tokyo-based startup SpaceData to develop two digital twin solutions aimed at enhancing space exploration and economic initiatives. Digital twins are virtual replicas of real-world objects, systems, or processes that enable simulations to improve decision-making and predict outcomes.
Under the agreement, SpaceData will create a high-fidelity lunar digital twin platform to support the Emirates Lunar Mission. By leveraging MBRSCs rover observation data, this simulation environment will enhance the accuracy and efficiency of future lunar exploration efforts. Additionally, SpaceData will develop a digital twin environment to train UAE astronauts, providing a highly detailed, three-dimensional simulation of the lunar surface to refine their exploration skills and ensure safe and effective missions.
On Earth, SpaceData will build a comprehensive digital twin of Dubais urban landscape to boost tourism and economic development. The platform will enable virtual tourism experiences, allowing users to explore Dubai remotely. Furthermore, by integrating satellite and meteorological data, the company will construct a disaster prediction digital twin, focusing on large-scale disaster simulations to improve safety measures. As Dubai undergoes rapid urban expansion, this solution will help mitigate risks related to climate challenges while promoting sustainable growth.
