The registration for the space camp, which includes sessions and workshops on satellites and robotics, is open till December 14.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has announced that it will be holding a space camp for students called Space Explorer Winter Camp 2019 from December 15 to 24.
The camp for female students aged 11-14 will be from December 15 to 17, while the camp for male students in the same age group will be from December 22 to 24.
The camp, which aims to provide students with a space exploration experience, includes sessions run by MBRSCs experts and specialists, on satellites and clean rooms, the UAE Astronaut Programme, the International Space Station (ISS) and what astronauts do, robotics, the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) Hope Probe, mapping Mars, and the solar system.
The camp will also consist of workshops on satellites and robotics in addition to a visit to MBRSCs R&D facilities, which includes the Space Technology Laboratories.
The camp is a Mars 2117 initiative and is funded by the ICT fund of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
Commenting on the development, HE Yousuf Hamad AlShaibani, Director General of MBRSC, said: The Space Explorer Winter Camp 2019 is a great opportunity for students who are interested in space sciences, as it comes after the success of the UAEs first mission to the ISS. The camp will allow students to learn about the insights of the mission.
Adnan AlRais, Director of Remote Sensing Department, added: The camp is rich in scientific and educational content and teaches younger generations the basics of space sciences and technologies and prepares them to contribute to the national space sector.
