The two satellites join OQ 5G NTN IoT satellite constellation which has a total now of 10 satellites.
OQ Technology Group has achieved a significant milestone with the successful launch of its two latest Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, Tiger-7 and Tiger-8, aboard SpaceX‘s Falcon 9 rocket as part of the rideshare mission Transporter-10, facilitated by Nanoavionics. This accomplishment follows just three months after the successful launch of Tiger-5 & 6 satellites on Transporter-9.
Following separation from the upper stage of the Falcon 9 rocket, both satellites were deployed into orbit approximately 57 minutes post-launch. These 6U-sized nanosatellites carry “cell tower” Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) payloads. Contact with both satellites was established a few hours after launch using the Nanoavionics ground station in Vilnius.
With the addition of Tiger-7 and Tiger-8, the OQ 5G NTN IoT satellite constellation now boasts a total of 10 satellites. This marks the completion of OQ Technology’s low Earth orbit batch-1 satellites of the constellation. The company has been on an accelerated trajectory to launch multiple satellites since last year to fulfill its batch-1 constellation, enabling global narrowband IoT coverage for various clients and applications.
The growing demand for 5G satellite connectivity, coupled with the shift towards standard 3GPP protocols, has propelled OQ Technology to the forefront globally in offering LEO satellite narrowband communication for machines and the Internet of Things. The company has already provided Satellite NTN connectivity to clients in industries such as oil and gas and is expanding into sectors like agriculture and maritime.
