Ethiopia-based Tigrai Regional State Mass Media Agency has contracted Sony Professional Solutions MEA (PSMEA) to install a turnkey HD studio facility at its new broadcast centre in Mekele. The project will involve installing three HXC-100 cameras, one MVS-6000 switcher and professional LCD monitors to support the agencys content creation needs.
Installation of the kit will begin in December 2012. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2013. Sony PSMEA will also provide extensive training on the system.
Speaking about the new contract, Nigel Thompson, sales manager, Sony Professional Solutions MEA, said: Sony Professional is currently working on several HD studio and network production projects across Africa. This particular studio in Tigrai is probably the biggest in terms of studio floor area we have worked on to date, and will therefore facilitate the production of many different types of programs from simple one on one interviews to large audience participation and dramas.
It is also encouraging to work with regional broadcasters like Tigrai Regional State Mass Media Agency who now appreciate the importance of modern production techniques and the difference that HD can make in program quality. Like all those involved in the project, I am eager to see the finished studio and its control room being such a large and modern facility.
