Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency (ERTA) has awarded a contract to Sony Professional Solutions MEA (PSMEA) to install two new HD studios in Addis Ababa.
The turnkey project will see Sony equip the government-owned broadcaster with high-end HD products. Key solutions will include studio cameras that operate on fibre optic connection (HDC-1400) and a large 6ME HD switcher (MVS-7000X).
Sony PSMEA will also be establishing and equipping a new remote studio for ERTA on the outskirts of Addis Ababa. This will also be a full turnkey HD installation.
The new studios will provide ERTA with the ability to produce a wide range of programme material from news and interviews to audience participation entertainment production. These studios are aimed to be on air as of early 2013.
Nigel Thompson, sales manager for Sony Professional Solutions MEA says interest in HD is picking up in the region.
“ERTA and Ethiopian broadcasters in general now seem to lead the way in making this transition and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency as they move ahead in upgrading their broadcast facilities,” he added.
