The TV channel is planning to release original productions for children and partnered with local animators in Saudi Arabia as part of its efforts.
Pan-Arab free-to-air TV channel Spacetoon in the process of developing many live shows and animations, with the aim of releasing them in 2021, Kamel Weiss, Business Development Manager, Spacetoon told BroadcastPro ME in a recent interview.
As part of those efforts, Spacetoon partnered with local animators in Saudi Arabia and is making many original productions for children and young adults.
In parallel, Spacetoon is also attempting to build more talent in the region, from writers to animators and directors. To that effect, it intends to host workshops in the GCC and bring in talent from Egypt for knowledge sharing.
Commenting on this endeavour, Weiss said: “We have collaborated with international studios to co-produce content. We plan to host a couple of creative workshops in the GCC to train people on character design, as many of them grew up watching Spacetoon.”
